Kieran is a product engineer at Cobalt Digital Inc. in Orange County CA. Cobalt Digital is a leading supplier of digital video processing equipment for the broadcast television industry known for award winning products.

His professional interests include software and hardware design with a strong focus towards shipping high quality long lasting products for mission critical embedded applications. He has a strong emphasis on using open source tools to accomplish these goals. An afficianado of using linux based tools, he feels that for both the work and product environment, linux based development environments are a great fit.

He received his M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign in 2012 with a focus on power electronics. During this time he was a research assistant in the Power and Energy systems group, teaching assistant for the senior design laboratory for the ECE department, and served as the registration officer for the founding PECI IEEE Conference at Illinois in 2010.

In 2008 he received his B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign with a focus on computer engineering, digital signal processing, and hardware design. In 2009 he received the "Edward and Margaret Ernst Award in Electrical and Computer Engineering" for his senior design project. Raced with the Illini Motorsports Formula SAE team and designed several electrical subsystems on the car. Built two large robots with the IEEE team to compete in the Jerry Saunders Design competition.
